KENDALLPROJECTS

BLITZ:ARTHLETE

You’re invited to attend the performance of a studio Blitz on March 29th. It will take place at 34 Stuyvesant Street New York, New York on the 6th floor at approximately 8pm.

The BLITZ project originated from a conversation among fellow artists about my developing ideas surrounding creating an artist/athlete identity that could somehow exist in the studio space. A casual dare was issued for me to “blitz” my studio. This comment then fostered a stream of ideas that eventually lead to BLITZ:ARTHLETE. In this project I have set up the studio space as an enclosed arena or playing field where the “arthlete” (artist-athlete) can compete with his sculptures. A blitz: in terms of American football is a gambled offensive/defensive attack that if successful could change the momentum of the game.  The character (arthlete) will compete with his objects by running a series of blitz maneuvers using a sculpture to defeat a sculpture. The artist (arthlete) acts as a transitional medium between the objects to test their durability in the game. In turn the character will be tested while in competition with his object, which could defeat him as a result.

Please join everyone as spectators to this test of wills in BLITZ:ARTHLETE.

Notice from kendallprojects:

Please note that this is a live performance and filming. Your participation as spectator to this event is welcome. However please be aware of your personal safety and integrity of the filming while you become part of the experience of this project. The length of the performance is unknown (estimated at an hour), but it all depends on how effective the blitz is. However please feel free to come and go as you wish.
